Labour Court upheld €3,000 recommendation to worker after employer’s appeal

In 2003, the Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s €3,000 recommendation to a worker and rejected Powerscourt Springs Health Farm’s appeal. The decision was dated 23 June 2003. The worker said she had complained of sexual and verbal harassment by her supervisor and asked to move to another area. She said she had to keep reporting to him during a five-week investigation and felt she had no choice but to resign. The company said it investigated promptly and fairly and had no suitable vacancy for her. The Rights Commissioner found the investigation fair but said the company had not taken her request to move seriously. The Labour Court supported those findings.
