Labour Court rejects overtime appeal involving Advanced Technology Concepts

The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's appeal and upheld the Rights Commissioner's recommendation in a public-holiday overtime dispute involving Advanced Technology Concepts Limited. The decision was signed on 14 April 2003. The union said two Shannon Development employees were doing work the worker normally performed and that overtime should be offered fairly. The company said the worker had been told he was not required to attend and accepted the earlier recommendation as a reasonable resolution. That recommendation included a €300 lump sum for unauthorised overtime already worked and discussions on future overtime arrangements from 1 January 2003.
