The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and dismissed a worker’s appeal over pay for acting in a higher local authority post at Dun Laoghaire Rahtdown County Council. The worker estimated he was underpaid by €19,000 while acting as a Principal Officer from 1998 to 2001. The Court found that a civil service circular on incremental credit did not apply to local authorities and that an additional increment had been granted after the County Manager made representations. It said the rules had been correctly applied and no further credit could be recommended. The decision was signed on 27 January 2003.
