In 2003, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal over a Household Supervisor’s pay at Milford Care Centre. The decision was dated 11 March 2003. The Court upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that the union’s claim for pay parity fail. The union argued that the worker had missed pay increases received by colleagues and that her contract allowed increases in line with in-house agreements. The Centre said her salary had been agreed individually, was not linked to public-sector scales and had received National Wage Agreement increases. Separately, the Court recommended that she be given the option of linking her post to the Domestic Supervisor Grade VI scale if she wished.
