Labour Court recommends 8% pay increase for NEC Semiconductors worker

The Labour Court recommended that Nec Semiconductors Ireland Limited pay a worker an 8% pay increase retrospectively from May 2001. Its decision was signed on 30 September 2002. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had missed increases after disciplinary action over allegations of verbal sexual harassment. The union argued that withholding the increases added a further punishment. The Court found the written warning did not indicate further punishment and that the worker’s performance appraisal showed a pay increase was merited.
