Labour Court increases Arnotts worker’s payment to €800

The Labour Court increased a payment to a worker at Arnotts PLC to €800 in its decision dated 1 March 2002. It maintained his Monday-to-Friday working week but found overtime payment was not appropriate, as the previous arrangement had continued without formal objection from 1994 to 2001. The worker’s union had sought overtime for Saturday work and a return to a five-day week. The Court amended the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation, increasing the lump sum from £250 (€317.43) to €800 in full and final settlement of the union’s claim.
