The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that a registered psychiatric nurse accept the Northern Area Health Board’s position in a dispute over lost premium payments, medical expenses and sick leave after a work injury. The decision was dated 17 June 2001. The Psychiatric Nurses' Association Of Ireland appealed on the worker’s behalf, relying on escort duty agreements from 1984/85 and 1993. The Court accepted that the 1984/85 agreement remained in force but said its clause 5 did not support the union’s interpretation. It said the 1993 agreement did not support the claim in this case.
