What's proposed
a 10-year planning permission for development at this site at Kildimo, Co. Limerick, located partially within the foreshore area of the River Maigue and partially within the townland of Court, Co. Limerick.
This development will consist of a floating pontoon, an access gangway, an access ramp and all ancillary works to facilitate safe access and egress to the River Maigue at the Ferrybridge. The site area is approximately 0.64 hectares in size. The development will include:
• A floating pontoon, which will rise and fall with the tide on four piles that will extend above the high-water level mark;
• The main pontoon will be ca. 24m long x 3m wide;
• A gangway ca. 15m long will be hinged at the shore side and mounted on wheels at the pontoon side to allow for tidal variation;
• A landing platform will be constructed to facilitate the gangway with two support piles to anchor the gangway and will be stabilised using 16 steel sheet piles as a retaining wall;
• A new access ramp adjacent to the existing Quinns De Bucket Bar & Restaurant to the south of the Site, which will provide wheelchair access into the building and steps to the embankment; and,
• All ancillary development, including galvanised steel wire safety fence and lockable access gate.
The proposed development is located within the Curtilage of Ferrybridge, which is listed on the Record of Protected Structure (RPS 6257).
A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application, and the NIS will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during office hours at the offices of the Planning Authority. A Maritime Area of Consent accompanies this planning application Ref. MAC240032, granted on 10th February 2026 for a 45-year term
