3. The following requirements of the Conservation Division will be adhered to: e) The following conservation conditions shall be complied with: i. Where new slates are required, new slates shall be a close match in size, colour and texture. Their source and quality shall be agreed beforehand and at least three alternative samples shall be provided to the Conservation Officer for their written agreement. The new slate shall be laid on the inner valley pitches, with the original slate kept for more prominent roof pitches. New fixings shall be non-ferrous (copper, or stainless steel) nails with large heads. The original clay ridge tiles shall be re-bedded in lime mortar. g) In advance of the pointing works commencing on site, the CO shall be given the opportunity to inspect the historic façades prior to raking out of the pointing when any additional defects can be identified at close quarters. The applicant shall identify by inspection of the façade for any remnants of original pointing to inform the appropriate re-pointing method for the building based on remnants observed. h) During the course of the development, and in advance of this package of works commencing, the applicant shall submit for the written approval of the planning authority: i. Site-based samples of render removal ii. Samples of brickwork and stonework raking-out, brick and stone repairs, brick and stone cleaning, brickwork wig-repointing using NHL 2 lime mortar, repointing of stonework, concrete repairs, repairs to internal plaster etc. shall be prepared for inspection and written approval of the Conservation Officer. iii. Samples of the proposed repairs to cast and wrought iron work including the balconettes, railings and cast iron hopper and down pipes and/or repair of same.
