What's proposed

We, Coom Green Energy Park Limited, intend to apply for permission for a Renewable Energy Development (RED III) development at this site within the townlands of Coom (Hudson), Mullenaboree, Knockaunalour, Knocknacaheragh, Chimneyfield, Killeagh, Glannasack, Knockdoorty and Lackendarragh North, Co. Cork The Renewable Energy Development (RED III) will consist of: • Installation of approximately 15.8 km of underground medium voltage (33kV) electrical and communication cabling between the western and eastern arrays of the permitted Coom Green Energy Park (ACP Ref: 04.308885) and all associated ancillary works; • Forestry felling of 13 ha to facilitate construction and operation of the Proposed Development; and • All associated infrastructure, services and site works including excavation, earthworks, soil management, drainage and sediment control to facilitate the works. • A 10-year planning permission is being sought for the construction of the Proposed Development, alongside an operational period of 30 years. The underground cabling is intended to connect the western and eastern arrays of the permitted Coom Green Energy Park (ACP Ref: 04.308885) to the proposed 110kV onsite substation at Lackendarragh North which is the subject of a separate application for consent to An Coimisiún Pleanála. This separate consent application includes the proposed onsite 110 kV substation at Lackendarragh North and associated works including 110 kV underground grid connection cabling between Lackendarragh North and the existing 110 kV Barrymore substation at Kill-Saint-Anne-North, Co. Cork. Coom Green Energy Park along with its grid connection was previously subject to EIA pursuant to planning ref. ACP Ref: 04.308885. The EIAR submitted with this application for consent assesses the entire project which includes all infrastructure associated with both applications for planning consent including the permitted Coom Green Energy Park. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the Application.
