Wicklow County Council has been asked to review the status of CCTV cameras in operation at Greystones DART station.

The call comes following a recent spike in the number of anti-social behaviour incidents being reported around the station in recent weeks.

In response to a query from Cllr Louise Fenlon Gaskin about whether these incidents are being picked up and recorded, district administrator Tawnia Kearns said no CCTV cameras in the district currently work due to a lack of funding available to fix them.

Cllr Stephen Stokes indicated that any monitoring that takes place outside the station is managed separately by officials from Irish Rail.

“In March last year hundreds of town maps were stolen from the tourism stand in the station. The matter was referred to An Garda Síochána and Irish Rail, when a request was made for CCTV to be reviewed. Any anti-social behaviour in general, should be directed to Greystones Garda Station.” he added.
