Wicklow-Wexford TD Malcom Byrne has asked the Transport Minister Darragh O’ Brien to address the number of cancelations on the Bus Eireann Expressway No. 2 service that links Dublin with counties Wicklow and Wexford.

Following a parliamentary question Minister O’Brien indicated Bus Éireann has informed the Department of Transport that while most Expressway routes have remained operational this year, the small number of services that have been cancelled recently was largely down to fleet availability.

The company introduced a revised schedule in March with 102 weekly services in each direction connecting Wexford to Dublin/Dublin Airport.

A stop at Nutley Lane was also introduced on all Route 2 services after residents in Arklow raised concern about not having direct access to attend medical appointments at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Minister O’Brien has been assured they are working hard to address these issues and are closely monitoring the situation.

“I have been informed of the enhancement of services on this particular route by Bus Éireann to provide more frequent and punctual travel for all Route 2 customers.” he added.
