Wexford council to sell derelict town centre property after deciding it ‘does not represent a viable housing site’
Wexford PeopleWexford County Council has sold a derelict town centre building after deciding it “does not represent a viable housing site”. The property at 67 Upper John Street, Wexford town, was acquired by the council via compulsory purchase order (CPO) under the Derelict Sites Act on December 14, 2022; the “reputed” previous owner was Mary Ellen Hayden.
Following the CPO, the council’s housing capital reviewed the property and advised that it would be a very difficult site to develop and that it does not represent a viable housing site. The property was subsequently placed for sale on the open market and is to be disposed of to John and Sally Holden of The Edge, Rosslare, Co Wexford.
It has gone sale agreed for €91,000 and it is therefore intended to dispose of the property.
