Santa is to have a new home in New Ross for Christmas after it was confirmed he will take up residence in The Shambles this festive season. Repurposed as a multipurpose community and tourism space, The Shambles, on South Street, will be officially opened by Minister for Community Development, Dara Calleary TD, on December 10.

“We look forward to welcoming Minister Calleary back to New Ross for the second time this year following his visit to Brennan’s Lane in the summer," said district manager Alan Fitzhenry.

Revealing that The Shambles will play a significant role in Nollaig New Ross this December, Mr Fitzhenry said the Christmas lights would be switched on in the town on November 29 with children then invited to meet Santa in the new space on South Street.

“Santa will be in The Shambles where he meet the children and give them a selection box,” he said. “We will also have market stalls with enterprise students in the town for the three weeks leading up to Christmas, and we are encouraging people to shop local if possible this Christmas.”
