New Wexford town apartment complex will be ‘fully accessible’ and ‘suitable for older residents’
Wexford PeopleWexford County Council (WCC) is to commence a development which will see 18 apartments constructed on Belvedere Road in Wexford town. The apartments, which will consist of one and two-beds, will be fully accessible and suitable for older residents who want to live near the centre of town.
Confirming that funding had been approved for the construction of the complex, county architect Shay Howell said ecological surveys needed to be carried out at that site but that he had met with the planning department and the project was “good to go”.
He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the Wexford Borough District where councillors broadly welcomed news of this apartment complex which will be called Cluain Ridire (Knight’s Meadow).
Responding to queries from Cllrs Tom Forde and Vicky Barron, Mr Howell said there would be one parking space per resident and the estate would be maintained by the council.
Having previously asked whether WCC could develop a housing estate for people who may require additional supports, Cllr Catherine Biddy Walsh welcomed news of this project.
“It’s important we have a fully-accessible estate where older people can livie in the middle of the town,” she said.
