Works to protect Cahore’s north beach from coastal erosion are expected to commence in early 2026 after Wexford County Council confirmed it has received funding from the Office of Public Works (OPW). At the October meeting of the Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District (GKMD) environmental engineer Enda Brennan said the works would include a new beach access area and car park.

“We have received funding from the OPW for rock armour there, and we will hopefully bring the design to the next meeting to review it,” he said. “The plan is to install it at the start of next year and incorporate beach access and car parking into the design.”

Further works at the south beach are also set to take place with a new beach access and 40m walkway to be installed in the coming weeks. Mr Brennan also confirmed that a second external shower and drinking fountain will soon be installed in Morriscastle.
