Just 36 properties made available for Wexford social housing applicants via choice-based letting system in 2025
Wexford PeopleJust 36 homes were made available through the choice-based letting (CBL) system in the Wexford Borough District up to the end of November 2025. Under CBL social housing applications can apply for listed homes via the county council’s website and, if successful, will be allocated a property accordingly.
While an advocate of the scheme in general, Councillor Tom Forde said there is a lot of frustration among those using the system on a regular basis.
“I know a percentage of houses are kept back for long-term homeless and for those with medical needs, but how many?” he asked at the December meeting of the Wexford Borough District. “36 seems like a very low figure, there’s a lot of frustration out there from people who are logging into CBL every day and seeing nothing.”
Confirming that some beds were kept back for the aforementioned category of applicants, housing officer Edel Nolan said she would return at a later with the exact numbers.
