Enniscorthy still without a chemist every fifth Sunday despite a ‘number of letters’ being sent to the HSE
Wexford PeopleThe need for a chemist to be open in Enniscorthy every Sunday has once more been raised by councillors at their monthly district meeting. Requesting that the HSE be contacted to resolve this long-running issue, Councillor Jackser Owens said the lack of a chemist every fifth Sunday placed untold stress on those without transport.
“Once every five weeks people have to go to Wexford town for their prescription because we don’t have a chemist open here,” he said. “Not everyone drives, if your child is sick and there’s no one to mind them you can’t bring them on the bus with you to Wexford.
“Can we ask the HSE what’s holding this up, who’s responsible for this situation? 24 hours is a long time to wait if you haven’t got transport."
Although district manager Claire Lawless informed Cllr Owens that “a number of letters” had already been sent to the HSE regarding this situation, Cllr Pat Kehoe said a town as big as Enniscorthy shouldn’t be still dealing with this problem.
“Any town with a population of 10,000 needs a chemist open every Sunday.”
