Dog fouling a ‘huge issue’ at popular Wexford town park
Wexford PeopleWexford County Council is to “intensify” patrols in Min Ryan Park following reports of excessive amounts of dog fouling in the area. Bringing the issue to the attention of the district’s environmental engineer, Councillor Biddy Walsh said dog fouling was a “huge issue” in Min Ryan as she asked whether wardens were regularly monitoring the area.
“We do have environment wardens on patrol in Min Ryan,” replied engineer Hugh Maguire at the meeting of the Wexford Borough. “There are some problems with dog fouling there, not as bad as along the Quay, however.
“We can certainly request that our wardens intensify their patrols in Min Ryan.”
Suggesting that dog owners weren’t fully aware of where they could deposit poo bags, Cllr Leonard Kelly said the current system could be amended.
“We need to remind people they can use any bin, not just the dog bins,” he said. “Maybe we would save money if we had more of the bags and less of the specific dog fouling bins.”
