Application for new motorhome park in New Ross expected to be submitted in early 2027
Wexford PeopleThe director of roads with Wexford County Council has confirmed that a planning application for a 23-bay motorhome park in Marshmeadows, New Ross will be submitted in early 2027.
At the July meeting of the New Ross Municipal District (NRMD), Eamonn Hore said that once a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) was carried out at the site an application for the park would be sent to An Coimisíun Pleanála (ACP).
That NIS is expected to be carried out in August of this year.
Responding to a query from Councillor Pat Barden, Mr Hore said the development of the motorhome park would be relatively straightforward.
“We can develop it very quickly, the issue will be how long it takes ACP to make its decision,” he said. “It’s just one access road and 23 bays.”
While the park is being built as a stopover area for those coming to and from Rosslare Europort, there is a fear that it could also attract visitors who wish to outstay their welcomes.
“How can we avoid long-term stays, people who will park up and stay for weeks?” asked Cllr John Dwyer. “Are there policing mechanisms we can use?”
Having already considered this issue, district manager Alan Fitzhenry said he had been liaising with his colleagues in Cork County Council to understand how they police motorhome parks.
“In some instances they use traffic wardens to police the sites,” he said.
