Work ongoing to provide emergency accommodation in busy Tipperary town

A Fine Gael councillor has called for the establishment of an emergency 9 to 9 hostel accommodation in the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel area, citing access difficulties for residents in need.
The call came from Fine Gael councillor John Crosse who said that a 9 to 9 service should be provided in the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District (MD) area.
A 9 to 9 hostel is a type of emergency accommodation that gives people a place to stay from 9pm until 9am the following morning.
Speaking at the July meeting of the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel MD, Cllr Crosse said that there was a need for emergency accommodation in the district.
“We should try and access the accommodation at this end of the constituency for a 9 to 9, I know there’s a facility in Clonmel, but trying to access any 9 to 9 accommodation at this end of the constituency – people are finding it difficult,” he said.
In response, representatives from Tipperary County Council’s housing section said that work is ongoing to try and deliver emergency accommodation for the district.
"In response to Cllr Crosse on the accommodation for a 9 to 9 in Tipperary town, they are still looking for suitable accommodation and they haven’t found it yet,” councillors were told.
