Where to recycle your Christmas trees in Tipperary

By Katie O'Donovan, Independent.ie

As the Christmas season draws to a close, people across Tipperary who purchased real Christmas trees will be considering how best to dispose of them once the decorations come down.

Tipperary County Council will take old Christmas trees to be disposed of at a number of locations across the county, free of charge.

Between Friday, January 2 and Friday, January 16, the council will dispose of old Christmas trees at the Clonmel Recycling Centre, Carrigeen, Clonmel, the County Council Depot Cahir Business Park, Cahir, the Waller’s-Lot Recycling Centre, Cashel and the Donohill Recycling Centre, Tipperary.

They will also accept old Christmas trees at the Fair Green Car Park in Carrick-on-Suir, the Nenagh Recycling Centre, Nenagh and Roscrea Recycling Centre, Roscrea.

Templemore Town Park, Templemore and the Parnell Street Car Park in Thurles will also accept trees on these dates.

The used Christmas trees will then be recycled.

In addition, the county’s civic amenity sites will remain open over the Christmas period to allow residents to dispose of excess household waste.

The recycling centres located at Waller’s Lot in Cashel, Carrigeen, in Clonmel, as well as Donohill, Nenagh and Roscrea will be open on Tuesday, December 30, and Wednesday, December 31 from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

On New Year’s Day, the recycling centres will be closed, but will reopen on Friday, January 2 from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

On Saturday, January 3, the centres will open from 9am to 12.45pm, while normal hours will resume from Monday, January 5.
