Tipperary pub bucks the trend with expansion plans

At a time when many pubs are facing increased challenges and having to close their doors, one Tipperary pub is going against the trend, and is seeking to extend their premises.
Pat Sheehy has applied to Tipperary County Council to build an extension to the Roundhill Bar in Ballinteenoe, outside Nenagh.
Under the plans, a new smoking area, extension to the dancefloor area, a new seating area, as well as an extension to the toilet area would be added.
The applicant also seeks to change the use of part of an existing dwelling on the site to a kitchen and restaurant, as well as including a new wastewater treatment plant to serve the pub.
Planning files state that the conversion of the dwelling house to kitchen and restaurant use would bring back into operation a property that is currently unused.
Tipperary County Council are due to make a decision on the application by September 29.
The popular north Tipperary pub is the scene of frequent social dancing nights, with live music most weekends.
