Tipperary playground closed until further notice following vandalism

A busy Tipperary playground has been forced to close until further notice following a recent act of vandalism.

Tipperary County Council has confirmed that the Gleann Glas Playground in Roscrea has been closed until further notice to facilitate necessary repairs.

The repairs are needed due to an act of vandalism at the Roscrea playground, with the closure being seen as both “necessary and regrettable” by the local authority.

Local councillor for the Roscrea area Shane Lee said that it could be a while before the playground is able to reopen.

"Due to the limited playground funding budget allocated, the re-opening of this playground may take some time given the costs to repair damage of this nature,” Cllr Lee said.

It is not known what level of damage has been done to the playground, but Tipperary County Council have apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure.
