Residents of one Tipperary town are being warned of “major traffic disruption” as road works are set to get under way.

Works on Kickham Street in Thurles are due to get started on July 7, local councillor Jim Ryan confirmed, and are scheduled to continue until October.

Cllr Ryan said that “unfortunately it will mean major traffic disruption during the works,” which will see an overhaul of the Kickham Street area.

The scheme of works includes pavement rehabilitation/re-surfacing, replacement/widening of sections of the existing footpaths, upgrading of pedestrian crossing facilities.

As well as that, kerb buildouts, improved drainage, renewed road markings, signage, enhanced soft landscaping and some traffic calming measures will all also form part of the programme of works.
