Safety works on two busy Tipperary roads to start next year

Works are set to begin early next year to address speeding and safety issues on two busy roads in County Tipperary.
Roads in Cashel and Dundrum will see works carried out to address speeding and safety issues after independent councillor Liam Browne raised the concerns with Tipperary County Council.
In Cashel, the Hore Abbey and Dundrum Road has been the scene of speeding, with dangerous junctions also a feature of the road, according to the local councillor, prompting representations from people from both Cashel and Dundrum.
“After representations from a number of residents in both Cashel and Dundrum in relation to speeding and dangerous junctions, I've received commitments from the council to complete works early in the New Year to make safer the following locations,” Cllr Browne said.
In a response from Tipperary County Council, executive engineer Padraig Franklin said that works were scheduled for the new year.
"We will be completing traffic calming measures coming into Dundrum from the Dundrum House Hotel side (Cashel Road) in the new year of 2026,” Mr Franklin said.
"Also, we will be completing traffic calming measures at the Hore Abbey Road location coming into Cashel (spring 2026),” he added.
News of the project was welcomed by Cllr Browne.
"I'd like to thank the council for prioritising this work, and will continue to work on similar issues in other areas,” he said
Appealing for drivers to slow down on Tipperary’s roads, the Cashel-based councillor added: "But please people... the most effective way to alleviate danger from speeding, is to slow down”.
