Roadworks set to cause traffic chaos in Tipperary for a month

By Katie O'Donovan, Independent.ie

Roadworks and works on a footpath in a Tipperary village are set to cause disruption to residents for up to a month.

Repairs to the footpath in the village of Knockavilla, outside Dundrum are set to get under way in the coming weeks, with a section being focused on initially.

A stop-go system will be in place in the village for the duration of the works, which are set to last about a month.

The section that is set to see works take place is from the junction on the village’s main road to just before Knockavilla National School, which will include footpath widening and repair.

However, Tipperary County Council do not have enough money to complete the full works this year, but it is hoped that funding can be secured to finish the job in 2026/27.

It is hoped that funding can be secured over the next two years to fully complete the footpath upgrades in the village ahead of planned road resurfacing in 2027, according to Cashel councillor Liam Browne.

"The next phase would be by the school if we get funding next year,” he said.

“Great to be able to work on getting this funding,” the local councillor added.
