Planning sought to convert upper floors of Tipperary retail premises into apartments

By Katie O'Donovan, Independent.ie

A Tipperary retail building could soon be home to a number of apartments under plans submitted to the local authority.

Rana Zahid Habib has applied to Tipperary County Council to extend a retail premises, as well as creating two apartments on the upper floors of the building on Tipperary town’s Main Street.

Alterations to the retail unit would see an independent front door created at the front of the property to service the apartments on the upper floors.

The first floor would be reconfigured to create a studio apartment, with a private amenity space to rear at first floor level.

The second and third floors of the building would be reconfigured to create a two-bedroom apartment over both floors, as well as a private amenity space at second floor level.

Both apartments will replace the existing ad-hoc living arrangements on upper floors, according to planning documents.

Tipperary County Council is due to make a decision on the planning application by September 29.
