Planning sought for 10 new homes in Tipperary

In another potential housing boost for Tipperary, planning permission has been lodged for 10 new houses in Clonmel.
Greenrise Developments Ltd has applied to Tipperary County Council to build the 10 new homes on a site on the Western Road in the town, with two two-bedroom, six three-bedroom, and two four-bedroom houses.
The demolition of an existing house and garage on the site also forms part of the planning application.
A new vehicular entrance on the Western Road would also be provided, along with 20 car parking spaces, short term bicycle parking, and connection to public services.
The site has a long planning history, with planning permission for eight houses on the site refused in 2007. However planning for seven homes on the site was granted in 2008. This planning permission has now lapsed.
In refusing permission in 2007, Tipperary County Council said that the proposed development would be “out of character with the established pattern of development on adjoining sites”.
The council also stated that “the site is located on a distributor road, which is substandard in terms of alignment. The proposed development would endanger public safety by reason of traffic hazard and obstruction of road users caused by turning movements to/from the proposed development.”
Tipperary County Council are due to make a decision on the new planning application by September 16.
