Overnight water restrictions in Tipperary village this weekend

By Katie O'Donovan, Independent.ie

Overnight water restrictions have been placed on a Tipperary village in a bid to protect the daytime water supply.

Uisce Éireann have said that customrs in the village of Mullinahone and surrounding areas will be under overnight water restrictions throughout the weekend.

The restrictions are necessary as a result of low reservoir levels in Mullinahone Water Treatment Plant, the water utility have said.

Restrictions will be in place from 10pm tonight (Friday, July 25) until 7am, and will continue on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27.

The areas impacted are Mullinahone, Priestown, Kilvemnon, Pollacapple, Jamestown and the surrounding areas.

Pierce Faherty, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager in Tipperary has said that the restrictions will help to restore water to normal supply levels.

"We understand the impact of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the reservoir levels time to recover,” he said.

Meanwhile in Tipperary, water supply is returning to normal for customers in Ballinard, and surrounding areas following a recent outage.
