By Katie O'Donovan, Independent.ie

Plans for a new gym and three padel courts in Nenagh have been approved by Tipperary County Council.

TBB Fitness Ltd applied to Tipperary County Council for planning permission to develop a gym at units 9 and 9b in the Springfort Retail Park, in Nenagh.

The project will bring back into use a vacant premises, and will feature three padel courts, as well as a gym, cardio machine space, male and female changing rooms, and a staff area.

Part of the property was previously used as a children’s play centre, and the new gym will occupy the first and second floors of the unit in the retail park.

TBB Fitness currently has two gyms in nearby Limerick, with one in Raheen and one in Coonagh. The Nenagh outlet would bring the company’s total number of gyms to three.

Tipperary County Council granted permission for the development subject to seven conditions.

Included in the conditions are that TBB Fitness minimise dust and noise from the building during the construction period, that bins for the development be stored in a specific bin store except on bin days, and that works on the site can only be carried out from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.

TBB offers a range of services at its gyms, from workout machines, to fitness classes such as Hyrox, lifting classes and MetCon – or metabolic conditioning, according to their website.

It is not yet known when the new branch in Nenagh will open its doors.
