More social houses could be on way to Tipperary if councillors give development the green light

Plans for 10 new homes at Ashbury, Roscrea will be presented to councillors at the plenary meeting of the local authority next Monday (July 14), with local representatives being asked to vote on the plans.
A Part 8 planning application is when the local authority is the one seeking planning permission.
The development at Ashbury in Roscrea would see 10 new homes created, including eight one-bedroom apartments, and two two-bedroom houses built on a site that lies between Legion Villas and Ashbury View housing estate.
Each apartment will have its own front door, while 10 car parking spaces, as well as bicycle parking and bin storage will also be constructed as part of the proposed development.
The site of the proposed development has a long planning history, with planning permission granted for homes on the site a number of times over the last two decades.
In 1997, planning permission was granted for two two-bedroom semi-detached houses on the site, which were never built, and the planning permission lapsed.
In 2007, a planning application was lodged and then withdrawn for eight units on the site, while later that year, planning permission was granted for six three-bedroom homes on the site. These were also never built and the planning permission lapsed.
Councillors from across Tipperary County Council are due to vote on the plans on Monday next (July 14).
