Major housing development proposed for north Tipperary

A major planning development has been proposed for north Tipperary, with plans now submitted to the local authority.
Developer O'Ceallaigh Westfield Ltd has applied to Tipperary County Council for permission to build 52 homes on the Brittas Road in Thurles.
As part of the development, three four-bedroom houses would be built, along with 15 three-bedroom semi-detached homes, 18 three-bedroom terraced houses, as well as two duplex blocks with eight units in each – with both one and two-bedroom units.
The plans also seek permission for a new vehicular entrance to the site from Brittas Road, local roads and footpaths, resident and visitor parking, bicycle parking, and one external communal bin store.
According to planning documents, the homes are designed to integrate with the existing landscape and surrounding residential area.
Planning files also state that at the heart of the plans is to create a place for people to call home, a fact which the developers say, can often get lost in a planning application.
"At the heart of what this application is the aspiration to create a place for people to call home, for people to inhabit and live, to enjoy, to play, to raise their families,” files say.
A decision on the planning application is expected from Tipperary County Council by September 3.
