Illegal parking near Tipperary care centre hindering disability access

Residents of one town in Tipperary have been urged not to park illegally near a centre that provides support for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Councillor Liam Browne raised the issue of illegal parking on the streets surrounding the Nagle Centre in Cashel, saying that parking on footpaths in the area is making it difficult for people who use the centre.
Speaking on social media, Cllr Browne said it had to stop.
"There has been a serious increase in the past weeks, of cars parking along the roadway from Palmerhill into the Nagle Centre.
"People have to stop parking on the paths and roadways into the Nagle Centre,” he said.
Sharing photos of the illegal parking, the independent councillor said that cars parked on both sides of the road are making it difficult for buses to get through.
"The examples mean busses coming to and from from the centre, have difficulty coming and going,” Cllr Browne said.
"More importantly, some of the users of the centre are wheelchair bound, and need to safely access the pathways. People may be frustrated by needing parking spaces, but people needing disability access is more important,” he added.
The independent councillor said that the possible reasons for people parking on footpaths along this stretch of street had been outlined to him, and while it’s not something that Tipperary County Council have control over, he would see if the issue could be resolved.
“The council and gardaí will now be checking this area on a regular basis. I don't want to see anyone get a parking fine, but it is what it is. I've asked for this today,” he said.
"The rights of people with additional needs takes precedence in this case. Please stop parking on these paths or roadways,” Cllr Browne concluded.
