Drivers warned of month-long nightly closures on major Tipperary road

By Katie O'Donovan, Independent.ie

Drivers using the M7 near Barack Obama Plaza face nightly closures for almost a month as part of the major Tipperary road is set to temporarily close to facilitate resurfacing works.

Tipperary County Council plan to close both the on and off ramps at Junction 23 on the M7 motorway at Moneygall from 7pm to 6am each night between Monday, September 8, and Saturday, October 4 — except during the National Ploughing Championship (September 14–20).

The road will reopen at 6am each morning throughout the duration of the nightly closure.

The council said the closure is needed in order to facilitate pavement works at M7 J23 Roundabout with the R445 at the entrance to Barack Obama Plaza.

Alternative routes will be in use, with motorists able to use the slip ways on and off at Junctions 22 or 24 to exit or rejoin the motorway for the duration of the works.
