Call for volunteers to support Tipperary’s festivals

As festival season approaches, a local representative is calling on residents in Tipperary to step up and get involved to give back to their community.
Independent councillor for Cashel Liam Browne has appealed for volunteers for two local festivals that are on the horizon over the coming months, saying that festivals and events in the town, both past and present, are the work of people in the community.
"We often hear people say, ‘they used to put on great festivals in Cashel.’ But here’s the thing — they is us,” Cllr Browne said.
"Festivals like the Cashel Arts Festival and Le Chéile Caiseal’s Screamland don’t happen because of some distant group. They don't happen because of ‘the council’ or some secret committees. They happen because local people volunteer their time and energy to make them a reality.
“Without volunteers, these events simply can’t go ahead. It’s that simple,” the independent councillor said.
Both the Cashel Arts Festival and the Screamland events are on the lookout for volunteers, with Cllr Browne urging locals to come out and give back to the community.
"If you’ve ever enjoyed a local event, now’s the time to give back. Whether you can spare an hour or a whole evening, your help makes a difference. Tag a friend, bring a neighbour, or just show up, we need you.
"Let’s stop waiting for ‘them’ to do it. Let’s be the ‘we’ that keeps our community alive with creativity, fun, and connection,” he added.
The Cashel Arts Festival takes place from September 11 to 14 and features music, workshops, visual arts, theatre, talks, family events, dance and more.
