Almost 100 new homes planned for Tipperary town

Almost 100 new homes could be on the way for Tipperary’s county town under plans before the local authority.
Yellow Wave have applied to Tipperary County Council to build 75 houses and 16 apartments on a site at the Parklands Estate, Glenconnor, in Clonmel.
The developer hopes to build 28 four-bedroom terraced houses, 38 three-bedroom homes, nine two-bed houses, and 16 two-bedroom apartments on the site, with a proposal that nine of the properties would be given to Tipperary County Council for social housing.
The cost of this to the council is estimated to be €2,665,000, planning files show.
Work on the site originally started in 2007, with three homes built, and another three started. However, due to the financial crash of 2008, these three were never finished, agents for the developer said.
Planning was granted in 2022 for 52 homes on the site, but agents say that the developer feels that greater density could be achieved, while a more modern housing design is proposed to be used.
Tipperary County Council are scheduled to make a decision on the application by October 29.
