Work has commenced on safety works at a dangerous junction at Aughamore.

Welcoming the commencement on works, Cllr Thomas Walsh said, “This junction located along the R287 is extremely dangerous and safety issues have been raised here for a number of years. I met with residents and the roads engineer three years ago. Last year an application was submitted to the Department for funding and €25,000 was allocated for works in January 2025.

“Works include improving sight lines on the L-36025 leading to the Holywell and on the L-3603 leading to Ballisodare. Improved signage and road marking are also included. Sight lines are being improved at the entrance to Chesnut Grove estate.

“I wish to thank Sligo County Council Road Design Staff for their work in preparing the scheme. I look forward to works progressing and the junction made safer for all road users”.
