Councillors want representatives of Local Link to attend a future meeting of Sligo-Drumcliff Municipal District to discuss their current and future plans for services in the area.

Cllr Edel McSharry tabled a motion at the September meeting of the Sligo-Drumcliff Municipal District calling for the meeting saying, “This request is made on the basis that Local Link have not been responsive to individual councillor correspondence and that a collective meeting is necessary to ensure clear and constructive engagement with elected members and the communities we represent.”

Specifically Cllr McSharry queried why the request to reroute the 982 service to include Teesan, Lisnalug and Carncash has not been advanced, despite strong community support and survey evidence of need for the service alterations.

Cllr McSharry is also hoping the meeting with Local Link will provide the opportunity for a structured consultation process with local groups on future service changes.

Supporting the motion, Cllr Marie Casserly said, “It would be worthwhile to meet with Local Link. We need to see what they are basing their decisions on.”
