An application for planning permission has been lodged on behalf of Easkey Community Council CLG for construction of an extension to the side of the existing community centre to accommodate a sauna.

Supporting documentation lodged with the application states, “The proposed extension will accommodate a sauna facility, which will operate at scheduled times to avoid any increase in footfall during peak periods.

“The existing community centre operates on a managed booking system and has not given rise to any parking or access issues. As the sauna will also be booked and scheduled in advance, the proposed extension is not expected to result in any adverse impact on parking, traffic or overall site management.”

A letter signed by Margaret Conlon, Director Easkey Community Council CLG stated, “The proposed development will support the prganisations recreational activities and will not be used mainly for profit or gain.”

Sligo County Council have indicated a decision will be made by September 14 for the proposed development at Curraghnagap, Easkey.
