N17 progress update confirms work progressing with Department and TII said to be ‘100% committed’
The Sligo ChampionA progress update was provided to the Ballymote-Tubbercurry Municipal District Meeting in Teach Laighne, Tubbercurry in relation to the N17 upgrade from Knock to Collooney (Atlantic Economic Corridor).
The meeting heard from Sligo County Council Director of Services Emer Concannon that, “tenders are practically ready for Phase 3. By mid-year we should have consultants all going well.”
She added, “Money is not the object. We need the consultants to come on board to get the scheme ready for planning permission. There are 10-12 different environmental aspects that need to be studied. The idea is to have robust documents so that we can go to planning with confidence.”
Ms Concannon stressed, “The Department and TII (Transport Infrastructure Ireland) are committed to this project 100%. There are no blockages, we are progressing the design of the N17.”
