The Board of Management, principal, staff, and Parents’ Association of Keash National School are delighted to announce the completion of a significant redevelopment programme that has transformed the school’s facilities, expanded its capacity, and greatly enhanced the learning environment for pupils.

Located just outside Ballymote, the school has grown over recent years from a two-teacher to a three-teacher school, reflecting increasing enrolment and strong community support. This growth has been matched by substantial capital investment, enabling the delivery of new classrooms and a full reconfiguration of existing facilities.

The original school building has undergone a complete refurbishment and reconfiguration. It now comprises two large mainstream classrooms, SET classroom, two offices, and a modern kitchen facility.

Both primary classrooms have been fully upgraded and now include integrated storage units, in-room kitchen facilities, and newly installed bathroom facilities located directly off each room.

Two brand new, purpose-built classrooms have been added to the school. These modern learning spaces feature floor-to-ceiling storage, air-to-water heating systems, and contemporary kitchen areas, providing an excellent environment to support teaching and learning.

The school is also supported by after-school care provided by Spraoi, which operates daily from 2pm to 6pm, offering families valuable extended care and enriching activities for pupils. In addition, Spraoi has recently expanded its services locally with the opening of a new preschool facility in the Keash GAA clubhouse, providing an important early years’ service for families within the community.

Keash National School is also looking forward to welcoming our new Junior Infants to the school on June 16. This special visit will give children an opportunity to experience their new school environment, become familiar with their new classroom setting, and get a sense of the daily routines and activities they will enjoy in September.

Enrolment is now open for the 2026/’27 academic year

We are very excited to welcome our newest pupils and their families to our school community. We would also like to extend an invitation to any prospective parents and children who may be interested in joining our school to come along on the day.

Anyone wishing to attend can contact the school by email at keashns@gmail.com or by phone on 083 157 0907.

All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and integrated surround-sound systems, supporting engaging and modern teaching methods. Pupils also have daily access to iPads and Chromebooks, ensuring regular engagement with digital learning tools and technologies.

The Board of Management has acknowledged that this transformation has been made possible through the combined efforts of our principal, staff, parents, the wider community, and funding partners.

The result is a modern, inclusive, and forward-looking school environment that provides exceptional opportunities for all pupils at Keash National School.
