Borough meeting hears calls for survey to be undertaken on Strandhill Road – ‘it’s basically a chicane’

By Philip Rooney, The Sligo Champion

At the recent meeting of the Borough District of Sligo, Cllr Arthur Gibbons called for the roads department to carry out a survey on the Strandhill Road at Knappaghmore on the short stretch of road that leads under the railway bridge.

Outlining his concerns and why he feels action needs to be taken, Cllr Gibbons said, “Anyone not used to that corner comes into it way too fast. It’s basically a chicane.”

Cllr Gibbons added, “There should be bigger notices advising people what’s ahead and to slow down. It’s needed, especially on the Strandhill side.”
