Attempts to appoint two consultant dermatologists to SUH have been unsuccessful

The Regional Health Forum this week heard that attempts to fill two consultant dermatology posts at Sligo University Hospital have proved unsuccessful.

Sligo University Hospital confirmed that despite extensive recruitment efforts throughout 2025, no suitable candidates have been appointed to the two approved consultant dermatology posts.

The HSE is now reshaping the roles so that one position will be based full-time at Letterkenny University Hospital and one at SUH. Once the revised job profiles are finalised, they will be resubmitted to the Consultant Applications Advisory Committee for approval before the posts are re-advertised on PublicJobs.ie.

This process aims to secure permanent consultant dermatologists to meet the needs of patients across the region.
