Where to recycle your ‘real’ Christmas tree in Meath as drop-off points remain open

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Meath households looking to clear away the last signs of the festive season can now recycle their “real” Christmas trees at several dedicated locations across the county.

Meath County Council has opened its Christmas tree recycling service, offering residents an easy and environmentally friendly way to dispose of trees after the holidays.

Trees are being accepted for shredding at the Navan, Trim, Kells and Thornton’s Dunboyne Recycling Centres, with the council urging people to check opening hours before arriving, as times vary by location.

The service is free of charge and helps divert thousands of trees from landfill each year.

Additional drop-off points have been set up. Trees can be taken to the Meath County Council depot in Duleek, located behind the Garda station, during normal office hours.

The Pillo Hotel in Ashbourne will also accept trees from until January 18, while Meath County council office on the Drumree Road in Dunshaughlin is open as another collection point.

The council said that only “real” Christmas trees will be accepted, as artificial trees cannot be shredded.

Residents are encouraged to use the scheme to ensure their festive waste is disposed of responsibly and in a sustainable way.
