Uisce Éireann advances multi-million euro water supply upgrade project in Meath

Uisce Éireann is set to deliver a major water supply upgrade project in Meath, investing multi-million euros to replace an unsustainable water source and modernise the local water treatment plant.
The Drumconrath water supply improvement will provide clean, reliable drinking water to over 1,200 residents in Drumconrath and surrounding areas.
The upgrade includes the introduction of a new raw water source from a groundwater well in Posseckstown, enhancing the capacity and resilience of the Drumconrath Water Treatment Plant.
This project aims to remove the existing water scheme from the Environmental Protection Agency's Remedial Action List (RAL), which highlights water supplies requiring urgent improvements.
A new rising main will be constructed to transport raw water from the new source to the upgraded treatment plant, which will be designed to treat and supply up to 1,000 cubic meters of potable water per day that meets current drinking water quality standards.
John McElwaine, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, said: "The upgrade works carried out as part of this project will ensure a secure and resilient water supply to Drumconrath and surrounding areas.”
"The works will also ensure compliance with current drinking water quality regulations and will enable social and economic growth in the area.”
Coffey Construction Ltd has been contracted to carry out the works, with construction scheduled to begin in the coming months. Traffic management plans will be published in advance to minimise disruption.
