Trim Tennis Club granted planning permission for major expansion

Trim Tennis Club has been granted planning permission by Meath County Council for a significant redevelopment of its facilities on Newhaggard Road.
The approved development includes the realignment and reorientation of three existing tennis courts, as well as the addition of a new fourth court.
All four courts will feature full International Tennis Federation (ITF) Class 1 Professional standard lighting, with 12 light poles standing 12 metres high. The plans also include the development of a new padel tennis court, complete with 6-metre high sports lighting.
In addition to the court upgrades, Trim Tennis Club will construct a new two-storey clubhouse, which will include single-storey equipment and service sheds. A young children’s play area is also part of the proposal, along with a central elevated viewing area and canopy between the courts.
Further enhancements include new fencing around the courts and site perimeter, updated landscaping with paved areas, improved car parking, and dedicated bicycle parking.
The application included further information and revised plans before approval was granted.
Founded in 1948, Trim Tennis Club originally featured three grass courts. In the 1960s, the club then relocated to its current site on the Newhaggard Road.
The existing clubhouse has been modernised to include shower and changing facilities, and the site offers ample parking. With all courts floodlit, tennis is played year-round.
