Traffic calming measures proposed for estate in Navan to reduce speed

Concerns over speeding on the Old Balreask Woods Estate in Navan have prompted calls for a traffic impact survey and the installation of traffic calming measures.
Cllr Eddie Fennessy (SF) tabled a motion at the recent Navan Municipal District meeting requesting that Meath County Council carry out the survey to assess the need for measures such as speed ramps, signage, or other interventions to reduce speed in the area.
The council’s Transportation Section confirmed it is drafting a Traffic Calming Policy for the county.
The policy will set out detailed criteria for evaluating requests and implementing schemes aimed at reducing traffic speed and volumes, while improving safety for all road users.
Meath County Council stated that once the policy is adopted, requests like the one for Old Balreask Woods Estate will be assessed and actioned as appropriate.
The estate has now been added to the list of potential traffic calming projects for consideration and funding.
