Second phase of Meath’s climate action programme fund to open for applications

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

The Community Climate Action Programme Fund in Meath is set to launch its Phase 2 this autumn, giving community groups the opportunity to secure funding for sustainable projects that reduce carbon emissions and build low-carbon, resilient communities.

Run by Meath County Council, the scheme supports local organisations committed to climate action and environmental improvement across the county.

Later this month, the Council will host a series of information sessions across Meath to explain the CCAP Fund in detail. These sessions will cover everything from the eligibility criteria to the application process, giving community groups the knowledge they need to submit strong proposals.

The in-person events follow a recent online webinar, organised in partnership with other local authorities, which is still available to watch via the Council’s website.

Phase 1 of the programme, which opened for applications on 6 December 2023, generated a strong response from the community. Information sessions and meetings were held with interested groups between December 2023 and February 2024, with applications closing in February.

In total, 64 applications were received. Following an evaluation period in March and April, 25 projects were approved, securing funding worth €810,908.17.

Community groups interested in applying for Phase 2 funding are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming information sessions or watch the online webinar for guidance.
