Plans to provide a temporary two-metre-wide footway connecting the new Balmoral Pedestrian Bridge to the existing footway on the N51 northeast of the Balmoral Junction in Navan have been announced by Meath County Council.

The scheme, proposed under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 was outlined at the January meeting of the Navan Municipal District. It is intended to improve pedestrian access and safety in the area.

Drawings and details of the proposed footway are available for inspection at Meath County Council offices at Buvinda House during normal office hours until March 3, 2026.

Members of the public can submit observations or comments on the proposed development in writing to the Transportation Department or by email.

The council noted that the implementation of the footway is subject to the availability of funding.
